The Story of Bee Rooted

How It Started

It all started back in 2015 when I founded Simple Soy Candle Co. down in sunny Fort Myers, Florida. From day one, I was obsessed with making clean-burning, sustainable candles that helped people get back to the basics.

I kept production small and intimate, hand-pouring tiny batches of 8 to 10 candles at a time in my studio. People fell in love with that clean, minimalist vibe and after literally hundreds of farmer’s markets and countless hours of late nights pouring candles in my garage, my little brand exploded. I went on to partner with some of the best retailers in the world, landing our candles with Nordstrom, Anthropologie, Whole Foods, and even Walmart.

Moving for the Roots

As life grew, I knew I needed and wanted a different pace for the next chapter of my life. I made the decision to relocate across the country to slow down, get back to my roots, and start a family. To me, our roots are everything—it’s where we were born, where we are actively raising our family, and building what we want to leave behind.

But right in the middle of building that new life—shortly after the birth of my second son—life threw us a massive curveball. I was hit with a sudden, severe autoimmune health issue that completely flipped my world upside down. Faced with a body that was fighting itself, I realized that "clean" had to take on a whole new meaning. To heal, I needed to lead a completely chemical-free lifestyle.

I started stripping toxins out of our lives one single category at a time—from our clothing, personal care, and home products, all the way down to our food (which seemed to be the biggest curve ball of all).

Finding Peace in the Wild

To completely heal, we had to strip everything down to the absolute roots—and in doing that, we found a whole new way of living. Cooking every day and learning how to grow our own food with gardening is the new norm.

Suddenly, life became about seeing the pure nurture in raising three little silly gooses running wild in my backyard up against the forest, surrounded by wildflowers. It’s a relaxing view that completely grounds me and allows me to just inhale every single day. By adjusting our lifestyle and getting back to the basics of the earth, I was able to overcome those health challenges and heal.

That journey completely reinvented the mission of this business. Even the cleanest scents can be a trigger when your body is compromised, which is why we chose to step away from fragrances entirely.

Through Bee Rooted, we have completely rebranded and reimagined our craft to focus on 100% pure, fragrance-free, chemical-free living. Our raw beeswax goods are designed to protect the air your family breathes and keep your home grounded in absolute purity. At the end of the day, I just try to keep it simple, stay close to the earth, and always stay Bee Rooted.
